The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
