Well-Known Names and International Stars

Stephen Ireland began playing for the side during preseason this season through close mate and current Wythenshawe teammate Blake Norton, and the former Irish midfielder then asked other former professionals, who all play in a midweek nine-a-side match, to join in.

Ex- Senegalese striker Oumar Niasse, who netted twelve goals in 65 Premier League games for the Toffees and still attends their matches at Goodison Park, also made his debut against Collegiate OB - who are based in the city and use an Everton warm-up gear as their uniform.

"A mate Stephen said 'join and play, it's enjoyable'," said the striker.

"After that he told me we were facing a side from Liverpool and the surprise I had when I noticed them wearing Everton kits - I say this is strange for me!

"If you still love the game and you know you can still play, anywhere you can play, what are you going to choose?

"Those people who turn up and see are pleased and to give someone's moment if they watch us competing there and to ask us questions - it's really about the pleasure of us having a place we can play, with organisation of course."

Such is the bench strength at the club, he had his debut at full-back.

"It's a bit unusual but then, I enjoy sprinting and just go forward - I'm not defending that much," he said.

"I tell my defender 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep running.

"The movement is what I'm seeking. It's good fun."

Unreal Feeling
