Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Viewers can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
